WE AIN’T BUYING IT

Pause on shopping from major companies that are enabling this administration.

This Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday – let’s make our dollars count. We’re asking Americans to hit pause on shopping from major corporations.

We Ain’t Buying It Target Companies

This action is taking direct aim at Target, for caving to this administration’s biased attacks on DEI; Home Depot, for allowing and colluding with ICE to kidnap our neighbors on their properties; and Amazon, for funding this administration to secure their own corporate tax cuts.

Target

Target has rolled back their DEI initiatives, which included ending programs that help Black employees advance, cutting financial support for Black-Owned businesses, and removing LGBTQ+ products from their stores.

Amazon

Amazon holds a monopolistic position in the market, contributes to dangerous working conditions for its employees and drivers, and CEO Jeff Bezos has donated over $1 million to this administration.

Home Depot

Home Depot is allowing ICE agents to illegally detain and kidnap laborers from their stores. The laborers in our communities are not able to look for work safely.

How to Participate

  • Full Black Out: Don’t buy anything from Target, Amazon or Home Depot stores during this week. Use the time and money to connect with those you love, and rediscover what matters.
  • Redirect Spending: Skip the companies undermining democracy. Shop small, local, or with businesses affirming our humanity.
  • Join the Movement: Pledge to be a conscious consumer.
  • Amplify: Spread the word. Share the message in conversation and online.
  • Use and SHARE Our Toolkit: Get the word out about this economic action so we can hit the billionaire’s pockets where it hurts! Share now!

Sign The We Ain’t Buying It Pledge

This Thanksgiving season, it’s time to put our money where our values are. It’s time to recognize the power in every dollar we spend or don’t spend. That’s why we’re calling on everyone who believes in justice, equity, and real community investment to take the We Ain’t Buying It pledge.

For too long, our spending has funded companies and organizations that take us for granted, disrespect our dignity, and ignore the needs of our neighborhoods. We’re done with that. This movement is about more than just saying “no.” It’s about saying “yes” to businesses and organizations that respect us, invest in us, and stand with us.

By signing this pledge, you commit to:

  • Mobilizing your consumer power: pulling your dollars from companies that don’t stand with us and redirecting them to businesses that do.
  • Being intentional about where you spend and who you support, especially during the holiday season and beyond.
  • Returning to your roots: Centering family, community, and shared prosperity this Thanksgiving, and ensuring your money works for the people who work for us.

We aren’t just consumers; we’re community builders. We’re driving the change we want to see, and demanding respect.

Sign the pledge. Join the movement. Let’s make every dollar count

I pledge to be a conscious consumer. I will support businesses that invest in our communities and withdraw my dollars from those that don’t. I will spend intentionally, stand in solidarity, and make sure my money reflects my values. We ain’t buying anything less.

Everything You Need To Know

This holiday season, we’re saying NO to exploitation – and YES to empowerment.

We Ain’t Buying It is an economic action and solidarity campaign designed to defend democracy and reclaim community power. We’re asking Americans to hit pause on shopping from major corporations that have caved to the administration’s policies. Instead, we’ll stand together for family, freedom, and the future we deserve.

The Numbers Tell the Story: In 2024, 196.7 million Americans shopped during Thanksgiving weekend. Cyber Monday has become an enormous cultural and commercial phenomenon. If we want corporations to hear our concerns about enabling this administration’s harms to our communities, we need to send them a message during this crucial window.

Thanksgiving retail week is a crucial period for big retailers; nearly 20% of annual sales happen between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If we coordinate even a small drop in these numbers, we send a powerful message: we want to see them stand up and stop enabling harm for profit.

  • Immediate economic pressure: During a crucial week for retailers, we’ll show them that our values aren’t for sale.
  • Community muscle: Practicing non-compliance builds the skills and confidence we’ll need in fights ahead. We’re reclaiming our holidays for each other; not for consumption.
  • Long-term resistance: This is infrastructure: toolkits, partnerships, and organizing tech to support future campaigns.
  • This action is taking direct aim at Target, for caving to this administration’s biased attacks on DEI; Home Depot, for allowing and colluding with ICE to kidnap our neighbors on their properties; and Amazon, for funding this administration to secure their own corporate tax cuts. We’ll send a clear message: until they cease collaborating with this administration’s harmful policies, our dollars will go elsewhere.
  • Support Black, Immigrant and POC-owned businesses, small and local shops, retailers that have stood firm for democracy and inclusion.
